Do you need a license to fish on the pier?

Yes, each fisherman shall be properly licensed. www.wlf.louisiana.gov/fishing/regulations

Where can you get a license?

Many local bait and tackle shops, sporting goods stores, and big box stores with athletic departments can issue fishing licenses. You can also obtain a license from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. You can visit them online at www.wlf.louisiana.gov/licenses/fishing or contact them by phone at 1-888-765-2602 to obtain a license by phone.

Is there a cost to fish on the pier?

There is no entrance fee to access and use the Pier. However, everyone must have a fishing license.

Do you rent poles/bait and tackle?

No rental services are available at this time. Poles, Bait and Tackle are to be self-provided.

What are the most common fish caught on the pier?

Popular catches include, but are not limited to Red Drum, Atlantic Croaker, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Gafftopsail Catfish, Southern Flounder, Blue Crab and Speckled Trout.

Can I ride a bike, skateboard, or walk my dog on the pier?

Skateboards, Bicycles and pets are not allowed on the Fishing Pier.

Is the pier available for private events?

Who owns the pier?

St. Tammany Parish Government owns and operates the Fishing Pier, through the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

Can I use crab nets?

Yes, crab nets are allowed on the fishing pier. 3 per person or 5 per group. Crab traps are NOT allowed.
